Infant feeding Consultations
Lactation Consult Meeting Options
Despite what some may tell you, breastfeeding is not something that comes naturally. It’s a learned skill and that means that there’s a learning curve. It’s my job to support you and your baby in any way possible so that your breastfeeding experience is pain-free and positive. I offer several different lactation consultation options to meet you and your baby’s unique needs. Depending on your location and comfort level, I offer in-home, virtual, and phone consult options.
In-Office Consult
Visit one of my office locations. I share a space with Family Focus Chiropractic in Chanhassen, MN on Thursdays and with LifeSmiles Dentistry in Plymouth, MN on Fridays.
In-Home Consult
During an in-home lactation consult, I come right to you to help you and your little one work toward meeting your breastfeeding goals in the comfort of your own home.
Virtual Consult
My HIPAA-compliant virtual consults take place via Google Meet and are available to parents outside of my area of service or who feel more comfortable with a video call.
Phone Support
If you have a few questions that don’t warrant a full consultation, let’s schedule a call! This is a great option, especially if we’ve already had an initial consult.
How Breastfeeding Services Can Help
If you’re not sure which option is best for you, please contact me. I’m happy to help you choose the right one for you.
Prenatal Lactation Consult
As you prepare for birth, you probably have a lot of questions about breastfeeding. During an in-home prenatal consultation, I address your questions and share strategies that can impact your breastfeeding journey both before and after birth, including prenatal colostrum expression tips. We will also discuss your medical and OB history so that a thoughtful and realistic plan can be created specifically for you!
Postpartum Lactation Consult
The postpartum visit includes a full assessment and evaluation of you and your baby. While each situation is different, the weight of your baby will be discussed and I’ll provide a comprehensive care plan which will include what we discussed during our visit.
Twins or Other Multiples
Breastfeeding two babies can feel like a lot of work. It is! You and your babies can do it, though. A postpartum lactation consult with twins includes tips on positions to hold your babies for maximum comfort and how to increase and maintain milk supply.
Follow-Up Consult
At a follow-up consult we will see what progress has been made and update the plan based on how you and baby are doing. I’m happy to come back to your home to help you and your baby/babies maintain a successful breastfeeding experience.
Phone Support
The phone call option is great if we’ve already had a full consultation and you simply have a few follow-up questions. My phone consult minimum is 30 minutes, but I’m happy to extend this time as you need.
Bottle-Feeding Consults
Getting baby used to a bottle sometimes requires patience and skill. I will help you and your baby make that transition as seamlessly as possible for each of you.
The Lactation Network
The Lactation Network (TLN) may be able to bill your insurance directly for my consult. Approval must be completed prior to our consult in order for them to bill your insurance. Currently, they work with Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Cigna but are working on others. Be sure to check to see if yours is now accepted. In these cases, typically up to six consults are covered by insurance.
Give the Gift of a Lactation Consult
If there’s someone in your life preparing to welcome a new baby, you can give them a gift certificate to Baby Whisperer. I offer lactation consults, follow-up consults, and a combination of visits in the form of gift certificates.
